AVOID THE FOLLOWING AS IF THEY WERE POISON... THEY ARE! Trans fats MSG Aspertame Corn Syrup PBA (plastics) Genetically engineered products
TRANS FATS- HYDROGENATED & PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED OILS- Now with heightened awareness, we keep finding more and more bad things about hydrogenated oils (also known as trans fatty acids) and fried foods. Hydrogenation is the food industry's way of turning a liquid oil into a solid fat. This gives packaged foods a longer shelf life than if they were made with natural oils. GET THESE OUT OF YOUR FAMILY'S KITCHEN-Hydrogenated Fats or oils or Partially hydrogenated fats or oils. Read labels and avoid these substances as if they are poisons...which they are. Partially hydrogenated oils do not exist in nature, they are processed versions of naturally occurring fats and oils. Trans fats interact with normal fat metabolism and disturbing function by inhibiting enzymes (below) which are necessary for your body's normal metabolism of fats and they keep doing this for a long time. When you eat margarine, bottled salad dressing, mayonnaise, french fries, crackers or chips that contain trans fats, your body requires 51 days to metabolize half of them. This means that half of the trans fats that you eat today will still be inhibiting essential enzyme systems in your body 51 days from now! Many essential functions in our bodies depend on a group of hormones called prostaglandins (PGs) which are produced from fats in our diets. So there are good PGs and bad PGs. In our society most of the ill effects of chronic decease are brought on by or aggravated by the bad PGs. Some symptoms include cardiovascular, inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, headache, joint pain & back pain, arthritis, asthma, skin problems, hot flashes PMS. Many people who take pain or pain & inflammation meds can often turn around these common, annoying symptoms in as little as 3 to 4 weeks by avoiding partially hydrogenated trans fats and adding natural fats and oils. Read labels as if your life depended on it, it does. These fats are everywhere these days- most chips, cookies, candies, popcorn, peanut butters, canned soups and some so-called "health foods" and especially fast food. When reading labels look for, and avoid "partially hydrogenated soybean oil", "hydrogenated vegetable oil", "partially hydrogenated cottonseed oil" etc. Many of our friends and family members have nagging symptoms or major degenerative problems which we seem to take for granted and think of as "normal" or "typical", which they are not. When they occur, we feel victims of an imperfect world, or write them off to the aging process. These symptoms can be changed and the quality of life improved by simply avoiding hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated fats and oils, and including good fats into the daily routine (and by avoiding these others listed below).
MSG- MonoSodiumGlutamate also known as Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, yeast extract utilized yeast, corn oil as well as many other names in order to hide it in foods- hidden names for MSG (I suggest to keep this list handy when shopping). John Erb was a research assistant at the University of Waterloo and spent years working for the government. While going through journals researching for his book "The slow Poisoning of America" (www.spofamerica.com), he found hundreds of studies around the world where scientists used MSG to create obese mice to use in diet or diabetes test studies. The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates, causing rats (and humans) to become obese. In his book, John says that MSG is added to food for the addictive effect it has on the human body. Even the propaganda website sponsored by the food manufacturers lobby group supporting MSG at www.msg facts explains that the reason they add it to food is to make people eat more. "Betcha can't eat just one" takes on a whole new meaning! We wonder why the nation is overweight. The MSG manufacturers themselves admit that it addicts people to their products. This is why it is almost impossible to avoid it, since every chain restaurant, and especially all the fast food restaurants use it, as well as Campbell's soups, Doritos, Lays potato chips, Top Ramen, etc, etc. It is found in salad dressing, gravy, seasonings/spices, frozen prepared meals, malt extract, malt flavoring, bouillon, broth, stock, flavoring, natural flavoring soy protein concentrate/isolate whey protein ...etc. Even though MSG is scientifically proven to cause obesity and is addictive, the FDA has set no limits on how much of it can be added to food. Many more studies in John Erb's book link MSG to Diabetes, Migraines, Autism, ADHD and even Alzheimer's. MSG has no other purpose than to enhance the taste and create addiction in order to boost sales. Read the labels! Dr. Blaylock recounted a meeting with an senior executive in the food industry, who told him point blank that these excitotoxins are going to be in our food no matter how many name changes are necessary. Take responsibility for your own health- read labels! Avoid MSG, and detoxify your body to eliminate these harmful toxins once and for all.
ASPERTAME- is a sweetener made of two amino acids- phenylalanine and the excitotoxin aspertate. It should be avoided at all costs! Sold under dozens of brand names such as NutraSweet, Splenda and Equal, aspertame breaks down within 20 minutes at room temperature into several primary toxic and dangerous ingredients:DKP (diketopiperazine-converts to near duplicate of powerful brain tumor causing agent), Formic acid (ant venom), Formaldehyde (embalming fluid), Methanol (causes blindness-extremely dangerous substance). It is found in diet soft drinks, sugar free gum, sugar free Kool Aid, Crystal Light, children's medications, "low sugar" cereals and thousands of other products claiming to be 'low calorie', 'diet', or 'sugar free'. Aspartame is a neurotoxin, which effects the brain and nervous system-causing learning and emotional difficulties. There is scientific evidence that these chemicals could permanently damage a critical part of the brain known to control hormones- causing endocrine problems (pituitary, thyroid, adrenals, ovaries and testes). Many of today's epidemic neurodegenerative brain diseases disappear when these neurotoxins are removed from the diet, yet much of the damage is permanent. Just as above these damaging agents are added to our food for one reason- to enhance taste, create addiction and boost sales. For your health and well being, and that of your children, family and friends, help preserve the natural function of the brain, nervous system and endocrine system, by avoiding these neurotoxins-at all cost! If you're looking for a low calorie drink, why not water?

Table salt (refined salt)- If a product says 'salt' or you're using regular table salt -it is refined. In order to provide yourself and loved ones with vital necessary salt (second most abundant and vital mineral in the body), buy products that are labeled 'Sea Salt'. We've been told... salt is salt, right? Well, it's not at all. Lets focus on the difference between refined and unrefined salt. Unrefined salt is unaltered and therefore contains many different useful minerals and elements. For example unrefinedsea salt contains over 80 minerals and elements necessary for life. Without salt, life itself would not be possible. Refined salt on the other hand is treated with chemicals to remove minerals (which are sold and used in industry). Refined salt then as you can see, is essentially a lifeless product, which assures a long shelf life (forever) which maximizes profits for food manufacturers. Because of the fact that refined salt is so devoid of minerals, iodine is added to prevent goiter (swelling of the thyroid) even though the amount is insufficient. Dr. David Brownstein MD, author of the book "Salt Your Way To Health" was taught in medical school that salt = hypertension. That a low salt diet would lower blood pressure. However his clinical experience showed that when he began using unrefined salt to correct mineral deficits, high blood pressure improved. Not only that, but it helped improve the immune system and hormonal system (pituitary, thyroid and adrenal & sex glands) as well as many other areas of the body. So you can see why refined salt is categorized as one of the poisons in our diets. Without the balancing and complimenting effect of the trace minerals, sodium levels in the body get too high. When sodium is not ingested with the inherent trace minerals, mineral deficiencies occur. The ionic charge of the elements naturally pulls in the existing minerals from the body, which eventually create obvious deficiency, acidosis and other imbalances. Also, unrefined salt contains anti-caking conditioning agents (making it not soluble in water, therefore not soluble in your blood or lymph), as well as sodium ferrocyanide, ammonium citrate and aluminum silicate. It is understandable why doctors recommend low salt diets, because refined salt is detrimental. What they fail to acknowledge is the difference between refined salt and unrefined salt. Our bodies are meant to function optimally with adequate mineral levels and intake. Unrefined salt is very important to keeping our electrolytes and our overall systems in balance. The most widely available, high mineral salt is labeled "sea salt", and even better, you'll find "Celtic sea salt" in many health food stores. I keep sea salt on our table and allow our kids to salt as they wish. They know how much they need and it's always when they have been out doing heavy sports that they seem to pile it on. Note: Unrefined salt and plenty of pure water is an absolute necessity for proper detoxification since a low salt diet lessens the body's ability to detoxify chemicals.
Avoid: trans fats/ hydrogenated oils, anything "fat free" "sugar free" "low carb", aspartame/artificial sweeteners, MSG, corn syrup, white processed flour, white sugar, soy products, table salt (refined salt), tap water, soda pop, microwave ovens.

ESSENTIALS TO LIFE...
WATER-(read this!) is necessary to keep cells hydrated and protected, to eliminate waste (detoxify) and ensure the health of mucus membraines. Most people don't drink enough! Adequate hydration will dramatically improve many health problems, like sinusitis, constipation, inflammation, allergies, fatigue, joint pain, headaches and many other ailments. The human body is two-thirds water, an essential component that is involved in every function in the body. Water is vital for all digestive, circulatory, absorptive and eliminating functions. I recommend the book "Your body's many cries for water" by F. Batmanghelidj, MD. It states "Every function of the body is monitored and pegged to the efficient flow of water...Since water shortage is different areas of the body will manifest varying symptoms, signals, and complications now labeled as diseases, people may think water could not be offered as a natural solution. Water cures so many diseases. It does not occur [to people] that the only remedy for conditions that come about when the body begins to get dehydrated is water and nothing else." Most people assume that when they turn on the kitchen tap, they are getting clean, safe, healthy drinking water. Unfortunately, this is often not the case. Some unsafe substances found in tap water include radon, floride, and arsenic, fertilizers, pesticides, industrial chemicals, iron, lead, copper and other heavy metals. Water can also contain biological contaminants like viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Then there are these- chlorine, carbon, lime, phosphates, soda ash and aluminum sulfate, that are added to public water supplies to kill the bacteria, adjust the PH and eliminate cloudiness and odors etc. Water is highly important, and you need at least eight 8 ounce glasses every day. Drinking pure water should not be considered a luxury, it's is in fact, vital! I encourage you to look into home water treatment methods like- Reverse Osmosis. This treatment is found to be most thorough in reducing levels of arsenic, cadmium, iron, chlorine, lead, giardia, glardia cysts, nitrate, radium and sulfate. Other options are bottled water, but the purity varies greatly from one to another. Most recommended brands are Fiji, Trinity, Deer Park, Desani.
CARBOHYDRATES supply the body with the energy it needs to function. Carbohydrates are the main source of blood glucose, a major fuel for all the body's cells and the only source of energy for the brain and red blood cells. They are found almost exclusively in plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, peas and beans. Carbs are divided into two groups: Simple carbohydrates and Complex carbohydrates. Simple Carbohydrates (also called simple sugars or refined carbohydrates) are fructose (fruit sugar), sucrose (table sugar) and lactose (milk sugar) and grains that have had the fiber, vit E, B vitamins, bran and germ removed- and all your left with is starch. These include white bread, white rice and pasta (anything not labeled "whole grain"), and they all create the same health problems as refined sugar. If the label says "enriched white flour" your're not getting whole grain (you're getting starch). The average American gets 50 % of their calories from refined carbohydrates, which stresses the digestive system and endocrine system and uses up precious vitamins and minerals in the digestion process. Complex carbohydrates include vegetables, whole grains, peas and beans. These contain fiber and starches with sugar molecules strung together forming longer more complex chains. When choosing carbohydrate rich foods, go for the unrefined carbs like fruits, vegetables, peas, beans and whole grain (important fiber which acts like a scrubber to clean the intestinal tract) products. Steer away from refined, processed foods like soft drinks, desserts, candy and sugar. These offer little to no vitamins and minerals and when eaten often can lead to disorders like diabetes and hypoglycemia etc. It is recommended that about 60% of your total daily calories come from carbohydrates. (Low carb diets often substitute the carbs for soy which is considered a protein. Soy actually slows digestion and has adverse effects on thyroid). Use whole grain breads and pastas, and brown rice instead of white.
PROTEIN is essential for growth and developement, providing the energy needed to manufacture hormones, antibodies, enzymes, and tissues. Proteins break down into amino acids, which are the building blocks and are needed in the making of protein in our bodies- like muscle for example. Protein comes from meat, fish, puoltry, cheese, eggs and milk. Also found in grains, legumes and leafy green vegetables. You need about 50 grams of protein each day, and it is very important for those who are vegetarians to supplement their diets with amino acids since it is a considerable challange to get enough protein each day.
FATS get so much attention with the recommendations to reduce fat in our diets. But we need fat, just the right kind- like raw nuts, virgin olive oil, fish oil and avacados, black current seed oil, evening primrose oil, borage oil and flaxseed oil supplements. (It's highly recommended to refrigerate olive oil to keep from going rancid). Fat is necessary for normal brain development in babys and children, and provides energy and supports growth thoughout life. Fat is, in fact, the mostconcentrated source of energy available to the body. We just need to be very aware of the difference between these essential and beneficial good fats verses hydrogenated oils, also known as trans fatty acids and fried foods. More on bad fats above -Avoid TransFats.
VITAMINS and MINERALS. Like water, carbohydrates, protein and fats and the enzymes to digest them, vitamins and minerals are essential to life. Vitamins are absolutely essential for growth maintenance and reproduction of the human body. They have been studied in great depth by many biochemists, who have found that vitamins manufactured from synthetics are not always as good as natural vitamins. Although chemically, the synthetic varieties of vitamins are identical to the natural vitamins, the field activity is often reversed. Natural vitamin molecular structures rotate in a dextro-rotary motion, while some synthetics have a levo-rotary action inside the molecule. This difference makes the synthetic variety of some vitamins, (especially the fat soluable types- vitamins A,D, E, K and CoQ10), unacceptable in my opinion. This is why all the nutritional products that I use and recommend (such as those found in NanoGreens & Isagenix) are of the highest quality, purity and effectiveness, assuring easy absorption and results. Vitamins seem to get all the attention in the persuit for better health, but our bodies can go longer with a deficiency of vitamins than they can with a dificit of minerals. The minerals in our bodies are so important the body goes to complicated, even desperate lengths to maintain their balance. The refinement of foods destroys much of it's vitamin content, and minerals are also adversly effected by food processing and refinement. Like vitamins, minerals are sensitive to heat, therefore cooking also depletes mineral stores- as well as enzymes!
ENZYMES have been called the catalysts of life. Ok, so we all know that food is composed of protein, carbohydrates (including fiber), fats, vitamins and minerals. But until recently, few of us appreciated that all living things also contain enzymes. In fact it's enzymes that mature and ripen our foods (it's enzymes that make your apple brown after cutting into it- irradiation kills off the enzymes so it will no longer ripen and decay, which is done to prolong shelf life. So if your apple or any fruit and veggie, doesn't turn brown, you know it's been irradiated) These enzymes, that are contained in natural, non-processed foods, digest the foods in our bodies.. Enzymes are energy, and energy is defined in high school physics textbooks as "capacity to do work". The other components of our food supply, namely protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals are only building blocks. They do not perform the work. Think of enzymes as the construction workers of the body, which use the building blocks mentioned above to assist in the creation of our bodies. Many times there are plenty of building materials, but not enough construction workers to do the job. Then what? Digestive problems are now a major health problem in this country. Just look at the amount of antacids that are being consumed. This comes from lack of enzymes, not too much acid! It's enzymes that digest the food, not the acid. (naturally occuring hydrochloric acid in the stomach does not digest food, only enzymes can do that! Hydrochloric acid activates your protein-digesting enzymes. So those who take antacids are stopping the digestive process, and "acid reflux" symptoms are a result of undigested, fermenting food). With the amount of enzymes being destroyed in the name of food preservation, you can see why there is so many digestive problems, and with that ill health. This results in a need for technological advances to deliver nutrients, since there is such lack of enzymes in our diets, and therefore poor digestion. (fyi- Isagenix and NanoGreens are chock full of natural enzymes assuring optimal absorbtion of all those great nutrients). Essential, and what we need to digest and to receive the optimum nutrients from each meal is... Enzymes! refrigerate olive oil to keep from going rancid). Researchers are finding that some important vitamins and minerals are hard to get in amounts considered health-protective through diet alone, no matter how conscientious we are. There are many recent studies that show that the average person has over 200 chemicals and carcinogens in their blood, a major contributor to the current onslaught of degenerative diseases. So with that, detoxification will need to become the norm in order to assure optimal health. We maintain our cars, change the oil and filters and fill up with clean fuel. It is vital to our longevity that we do the same for our bodies. This is why I highly recommend Isagenix Health and Wellness system as well as the detoxification foot bath. Isagenix has the solution and is easy to incorporate every day into our lives. Not only does it offer our daily requirements of high quality nutrition, this system detoxifies our bodies safely and regularly. With Isagenix I am truly amazed at the health benefits I am seeing in so many people ~ (increased energy and mental clarity, improved vision, healthy digestion, weight balance, and the dissapearing of degenerative diseases and so much more). Our bodies require a lot of quality nutritnts, and no matter how healthy we eat, our food is just not supplying what we need. My family won't go a day without our delicious shakes! Good nutrition is the foundation of health. By choosing the healthiest forms of nutrition (and avoiding dangerous synthetic vitamins and minerals found in 'one a day' type supplements), your enabling your body to function at it's optimal level, feeling great and enjoying life to it's fullest.
